Is It Worth Traveling for Dental Treatment? An Honest Answer With the Numbers (2026)
For implants, crowns and All-on-4, usually yes, even after travel. When it isn't worth it, the real risks, and 8 questions to ask before choosing a clinic.
The short answer
A complete tooth on an implant costs €850 at our clinics in Serbia and Bosnia: implant, abutment and zirconia crown. The same tooth costs €2,200–5,000 in Germany, CHF 2,950–6,000 in Switzerland and €1,200–3,500 in Italy. Be careful with ads saying "from €350": that's usually just the implant, without the abutment and crown.

At our clinics, a complete tooth on an implant costs €850. That includes the implant, abutment and zirconia crown, and the price is practically the same in all five cities: Belgrade, Čačak, Doboj, Bijeljina and Banja Luka.
Bone grafting or a sinus lift costs extra. Whether you need one shows on your X-ray, and you get the exact price in your treatment plan before you travel. For some premium implant systems the price can be a little higher, and that's in the plan too.
For the same work, an implant with abutment and crown, you pay 2.5 to 6 times more in Germany. The comparison is only fair when you compare the whole tooth, not just the implant.
| Country | Implant + abutment + crown | Difference vs. us |

2026 prices, indicative, without bone grafting. * We found no independent 2026 cost guide for Austria; the range is our market overview. German prices are before the insurance subsidy. What the Krankenkasse pays (and why it's usually nothing for Serbia) is explained in Does health insurance pay for dental work in Serbia and Bosnia?
A tooth on an implant has three parts: the implant (a titanium "root" in the bone), the abutment that connects it to the crown, and the crown itself. With us, all three are included in the €850.
Because they often quote only the implant, without the abutment and crown. With a crown, a complete tooth in Serbia usually costs €550–1,000, depending on the implant system and crown material.
So always ask for the price of the whole tooth: implant, abutment and crown together, and what the crown is made of. A metal-ceramic crown is cheaper; a zirconia crown looks more natural and doesn't show a dark edge at the gum.
Not because of cheaper materials, but because of lower costs for rent, salaries and running a practice. The implants and equipment are the same international brands used in Germany or Switzerland.
More on this in Why dental treatments are cheaper in Serbia and Bosnia.
Usually two trips: first the implant is placed, then after a few months of healing the permanent crown is fitted.
Many of our patients combine the first trip with one family visit and the second with the next.
Three teeth on implants cost €2,550 with us. In Germany you'd pay €6,600–15,000 for the same work. When several teeth are missing, a bridge on implants or All-on-4 is sometimes the better solution. Only the X-ray shows that, so the treatment plan is always the first step.
We use well-known international systems such as Straumann, MegaGen and Neodent. It matters for long-term care: most dentists in Germany, Austria and Switzerland work with these systems, so parts are easy to get.
After placement you receive your implant's details (brand and model). Keep them: your dentist at home will need them if the crown ever has to be repaired or replaced.
